FAQs

Is your firewood seasoned and dry?

Yes.  Our firewood products are stored in direct sunlight and catch plenty of wind.  We store cooker wood in Racks, we store our bagged products on pallets or racks and ALL products are covered except for the conveyed loads.  All of our firewood products measure no more than 15% moisture content on a moisture meter.  Our firewood products will burn at optimal burn the same day and for at least a year to come if stored properly.  we have starter wood bags available at a reasonable price as well so don't forget the Kindling!

What is a face cord?

A face cord is a term we use to describe a stack of wood 4ft high x 8ft long.  The depth of will be an average of 16 inch typically.  A face cord is approximately 1/3 of a true cord volume.  Some people also refer to a face cord as a rick.  THIS IS A 6.5' TRUCK BED TOSSED TO THE BED RAIL.

What is A cord?

How long has the wood been cut?

Most of our firewood products are about 18months old.  We typically store a log on the lot in 8-10ft sections or smaller for up to 12 months.  We then buck the logs down to either customer requested lengths for large premium loads, or to an average of 16-20 inch depending on the diameter of the log.  Over the years, my father and I have found this to be the perfect aging process to NC hardwood.  You are left with a product that has not turned grey and moldy, yet is dry enough to light with little effort.  We strive for a product that has a nice steady burn to it as that is what I want to burn in my Buck Stove in my own home.

Do you deliver?

yes.  We deliver inside 20 miles of Thomasville, NC, 27360.  I will try my best to keep this radius as long as we can with the rising cost of fuel.  We will also deliver outside the 20 mile range, HOWEVER there will be a fuel charge that will be discussed once the actual route to the delivery address is mapped.  I am a retired long haul truck driver, driving is not an issue for me as much as the Gas Prices so please be understanding.

Do you stack the wood?

Stacking is included in the price of all loads, however we must be able to stack the wood within a few feet of wherever we will need to park the truck.  We deliver in 4wd in rainy and snowy conditions.  If your wood stack is not easily accessible by a Ford f150, please make sure you let us know ahead of time so we can discuss a plan of action.

Can I Pick Up?

Yes.  We allow for pickup by appointment as someone will need to be there to instruct where to park to be loaded and collect payment.  There is no discount for pick up, however it can help get you firewood faster during busy season as our delivery schedule fills up fast.  PICKUPS CAN TAKE $20 OFF THE DELIVERY PRICE.

What kind of wood is it?

Our firewood products are all 100% North Carolina Hardwood unless otherwise requested by the customer.  For example, sometimes a customer will request fat wood pine, cedar, or hemlock, I have limited quantity and keep it separated and will be happy to load it if requested.  OTHERWISE, we sell only seasoned hardwood.  Our conveyed loads will be a mix of Red Oak, White Oak, Maple, White Ashe, Elm, and less than 10% Poplar or Gum.  Premium loads will consist of what ever type wood the customer request in our stock.  Our Cooker Wood is all North Carolina Hickory, Pecan, Cherry, and Apple, variety varies on availability.  We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

What kind of payment do you take?

Cash is still best in our eyes.  Other forms may be accommodated but will be limited to PayPal and Personal Check as last resort.
